MR. LUKE FETHERSTON

What are your first thoughts on awakening in the morning?

What day is it?

Bath or Shower?

Shower!

What made you become an actor?

I started in theatre when I was 8, so it’s something I’ve always known I wanted to do.

What are your tip for success?

Having the opportunity to pursue what you love is success enough I think.

What project are you working on at the moment?

I’m currently in the States...so I’ll get back to you on that!

How much are you like the character of Joel Foxworth you play in Flowers In The Attic: The Origin or how different?

I tried to put as much of myself into Joel as possible and I was lucky in that there was a lot I could relate to. He’s a much better pianist though!

What attracted you to your character Joel Foxworth when you first read the script?

He knows who he is and isn’t ashamed of it and I was grateful to be able to play that.

Would you say that he is one of your most complex characters?

Actually no but the world in which he lives and what he has to suffer is certainly complex.

What is it like to get into a head like that?

It is definitely the best part of my job. Throwing yourself into someone else’s life in order to tell a story and make people feel something is the biggest gift for an actor.

Professionally, what are you better at now than before?

I’m much better at trusting the process.

Do you have any secret desire to work with a certain director?

I’d love to work with Ryan Murphy. REALLY love to.

Many actors are fascinated by characters with a dark side?

Absolutely. Pushing boundaries and challenging yourself is really exciting so finding those characters that think and feel so differently is a jackpot.

What was it like working alongside Paul Wesley, Max Irons and Kelsey Grammar?

Incredible. I felt very lucky every day on set because I’ve grown up watching all of them so it was awesome getting to watch them work.

If not an actor, what would you like to be?

That’s a tricky question....I think I’d make a great therapist!

Do you like risk?

Immensely. You’re only as good as the risks you take.

Are you of method or guts?

Both, I think.

Have you ever felt typecast?

Not unfairly no.

What social issue are you most passionate about?

Equality.

If so what was the last one?

Matthew McConaughey’s Green lights. It’s fantastic.

What scares you?

The cost of my skincare routine!

And what makes you angry?

The cost of my skincare routine!

What do you do to stay fit?

Running is my thing. Give me a good playlist and I’m off.

What’s something you could eat for a week straight?

Hmmm. My guilty pleasure - Crème eggs!

Do you wear glasses?

I don’t need to but I’ve tried (and failed) to look good in them.

Are you interested in clothes and style?

Very much so. I’m obsessed with people-watching in London and love to see what people do with their looks.

How was it working with fashion royalty Kate Moss?

Surreal. She was so kind and super funny.

How would you describe your personal style?

I’d describe it as ‘blagging’.

What cologne do you wear if any?

Le Lebo - The Noir or Jo Malone - Myrrh and Tonka.

Boxers or Briefs?

Both! (Not at the same time.)

Do you think it’s important for a man to be sexy?

No. I think it’s important for a man to identify how he wants to feel about himself, and then work towards that.

A quality that you appreciate in a man?

Empathy.

Your Hero In Real Life?

My Grandpa.

What would your perfect night be like?

Drinks at a rooftop bar with my mates watching the sunset.

Is there time for love with your schedule?

Always.

Friday or Sunday?

Impossible to answer!

Dogs or cats?

Easy to answer. Dogs!

What makes a perfect man?

Do they exist?
